It was a small victory, but a victory none the less for the lawyer representing State Senator Ulysses Currie.

A man arrested in the hit-and-run death of a police officer was found strangled in his cell, and investigators focused Tuesday on guards at the suburban Maryland jail, which has a history of security lapses.

The investigation is at a point where very little is being said. The Maryland State Police, the lead agency in the investigation had no comment today about it.
